Claire Fleury Studio

Brooklyn

Claire Fleury (she/they) has a vision to create radically inclusive designs with colors, cuts, and patterns not assigned to a single gender, body type, skin color, age or season. Their designs transcend simple binaries—easygoing yet structural, funky yet comfortable, original yet also traditional.

After releasing her newest line, Claire spoke to House of Coco Magazine about its origins: “I called it Kaleidoscope, as a reflection of how scattered our lives are right now, and how we might need to protect ourselves with armour. However, the ‘soft armour playsuits’ as I call them, are made from lace and mesh and faux fur and sequins, so they are another kind of armour altogether– one to have some fun with!”

Claire came to fashion from a twenty-year career in the performing arts. In 2014, they began creating costumes and outfits for NYC nightlife performers and dance companies. Claire has sold their work all over the city, from pop-up shops to retail stores to galleries to nightclubs - even once at a hair salon! Collaborating with predominantly queer and trans models, Claire has also created fashion shows for DapperQ at the Brooklyn Museum, Fashion Week Brooklyn, The Phluid Project, and many others.

Her studio is committed to sustainability practices - using at least 80 percent industry surplus fabrics and reducing waste through a no overstock policy. Claire’s work can be found in Vogue Italia, The New York Times, Paper Magazine, Lucy’s Magazine, Schön Magazine and many other publications.
