Tech Products, Inc.
Tech Products, Inc. was founded by Kenneth Nelson in 1948. After World War II he was looking to do something that would be unique and fulfilling. He found a small metal fabrication company in his hometown of Staten Island making valves for battleships. The war effort was winding down and the company was struggling but had great machinery. Ken decided to repurpose it to make industrial nameplates and data plates for heavy equipment. He invented a terrific way to emboss the copy into thick metal so the copy would be durable for the rest of the century and match the embossed copy to screen-printing for a good-looking product as well. The rest is history, in the 1950’s we started making the first embossed system for utility pole marking. Throughout the sixties and seventies, we created products for electric utilities, OEMs, and telecommunication products. In the 1980’s we continued to be a metal fabrication company but added injection molding capabilities. Ken and his engineering team produced a new idea for revolutionizing pole marking. His patented product would become the Everlast brand sold in thirty-one countries and throughout the USA. It has changed how the utilities mark their pipelines, poles, and cable. Ken passed away but the legacy continues with the Nelson family. His son is the president; his grandson is our website designer and at one point all the grandchildren have worked for or with the company their grandfather started.
