Guerra Paint & Pigment is a specialty resource store for artists and designers. We offer the highest quality artisanal paint, made in house in small batches, in our manufacturing and retail facility in Maspeth, Queens. The business was originally founded in 1986 by Arthur Guerra who was an artist and muralist in NYC frustrated with the quality of paint available at the time. He tapped the knowledge of the larger Paint and Coatings Industry and created The Paint Component System. This was a way of making high quality raw materials available to artists and teaching them that they can make far better paint than they can buy pre-made. The Paint Component System revolves around the liquid pigment concentrate aka dispersion, which yields the maximum vibrancy and cleanliness of color. This maximum vibrancy and cleanliness is achieved by the following important reasons:

1) The user is able to control their saturation via pigment load with the pigment concentrate aka dispersion

2) We use only the highest quality pigments sourced from time tested dry pigment manufacturers who originated over 100 years ago.

3) We use historical manufacturing equipment in the form of ceramic ball mills which achieve the finest grind of pigment, The Hegman 8. (Other companies use the new steel blade mixers that only bring the grind to a Hegman 6)

We are knowledgeable pigment collectors. With over 200 pigment dispersions, over 50 of them rare and extinct, we have the largest selection of single pigment (non mixture) dispersions in the entire world.

We are also exceptional color matchers and highly skilled at helping designers achieve their perfect color preference.
