Marina Gershman

I’m Marina Gershman, an artist and fashion designer with classical music background and education. I’m from Moldova, Chisinau. To New York I came with my family in 1995 and graduated Fashion Institute of Technology as a fashion designer. From my childhood I’ve been sewing, knitting and crafting. My passion for art started when I was playing piano and at the same time looking at reproductions of great paintings by impressionists in art books. New York opened many opportunities for me - I’m visiting museums all the time, teaching art to elementary and middle school students, and making women’s accessories (as I like working with different textures: wool, silk, leather, wood, metal). In the transition period between fashion design and painting I’ve made many fabric collages and decorative fashion dolls. Art for me is a world of happiness and hope.
